"The Moon" Journal 52 week 3 and tutorial

Here is my Journal page for Journal 52, week 4's prompts "The Moon"/ "Lunacy".

I love Tarot cards, and love to collect beautifully illustrated sets, so I knew I wanted to use tarot in some way for this prompt.

In Tarot The Moon causes tricks of the light and is about deceptions and disillusionment, amongst other things, so I combined both prompts on this page as I wanted to show  that "only fools dance under the moon."

I hope you like it. There is also a quick tutorial on how I created the background for this page.

Thanks for Looking :)

Shadow box

After spending weeks of working on this project and making sure all the pieces and the products were just perfect I have finally finished and I am delighted with how it turned out.

This is a very special, sentimental project to me. The box houses some very treasured little trinkets, so it was vital that everything was just right and that I took my time to make sure it ended up how I envisioned it.

I hope you like it :)

Thanks for looking!

Embossed Art Journal Page Backgorund and Journal 52 week 3 page.

So today I am back with a video on how I created the embossed background for my Journal 52 week 3 page.

The prompt for this week was "Your favourite David Bowie lyrics" and I couldn't wait to get started with this one! I chose the song "Within You" from the film Labyrinth. I wanted to add a few certain elements to the page, from the film, that really stand out for me, such as the clock and the feathers and the glass gems.

So here is the finished page.

And here is the video tutorial on how I made the embossed background.

Thanks for watching!

Dusty Attic Jan 2016 Entry

Here is my entry for the Dusty Attic mood board for Jan 2016 and a quick little step by step.

Here is the mood board featured on the Dusty Attic blog page.

I decided to go with an off the page project for this one and do a reverse canvas, and I had so much fun making it. The colours in the mood board made me long for the spring and so I decided to incorporate that into my canvas.

I started off using an A5 canvas and giving it 2 coats of Gesso. Once dry I covered the canvas with a piece of paper with a tiny flower pattern.

Next I tinted some gesso to make it a pale teal and gave the paper a light coat of this mix. I then           mixed some white crakle paste with a pink mica spray and applied this over the tinted gesso, thick in some places, thinner in others. While this was drying I cut a piece of wood effect paper to go at the back of the canvas.

I decided which Dusty Attic chipboard pieces I wanted to use and gave them a coat of gesso. For this project I used the following chipboards.

Foliage 2
Foliage 5
Ornate pendants 1
Bird of paradise

I then painted the pieces in metallic paints and distressed the edges of them with an ink pad.

I then took an MDF birdhouse and gave it a crackled paint effect, when it was dry I glued it to the back of the canvas. I added some florists moss and some seed beads and then started to add the chipboard pieces.

I then started to build up the canvas using paper flowers and the chipboard pieces until I was happy with the look of it. I finished off by adding some self adhesive gems in places and some feathers and a diamanté spray to the birds tail.

And ..... ta da!

Blue Fern Studios January 2016 challenge entry

I'm back today with my layout for Blue Fern Studio's Jan 2016 Sketch challenge.

Using the above sketch this is what I came up with.

I wanted to go with a vintage look for this layout and so chose a colour palette of browns and pinks.

I used the following Blue Fern Studios chipboard's to complete this piece.

Precious
Vintage locks
Vintage keys
Bits of Honey
Jewelled page dangles
Birds on a wire

I hope you like it.

More Than Words Challenge Layout January 2016

Here is my entry for this months More Than Words challenge.

Personality for me is all about layers. If you take the time to look beneath the dark exterior and between the rough edges, you will see little glimpses of the bright, vibrant hidden parts shining through. There are so many facets to a personality and sometimes it takes a while to delve through all the layers and see the real beauty underneath.
